"One Health" strategy ensures epidemiological surveillance after experiences with the pandemic.

Health and sanitation issues were discussed at the workshop on integrated surveillance of global risks for health, an appointment to strengthen capacities around public health and its main challenges in our country and internationally. The COVID 19 pandemic was an alert for health professionals in Cuba and today the "One Health" strategy is assumed as an opportunity to connect to the future.

The Workshop on Integrated Surveillance of Global Risks for One Health, an initiative created by the National Center for Agricultural Health and accompanied by the One Health project, a government strategy aimed at joining efforts to achieve greater efficiency in this sector, taking into account account aspects such as epidemiological surveillance, zoonosis as well as food safety and innocuousness.

During this workshop, strategies for international cooperation on public health issues were also discussed, linked to the objectives of sustainable development for the achievement of optimal health in man, animals, plants and the environment. These efforts also come from the transdisciplinary and are also directed at the use of science and innovation in the "One Health" approach.

This global risk surveillance workshop was held at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba with the participation of representatives from sectors such as health, agriculture, the Ministry of Higher Education, CITMA, as well as international guests who also link this strategy to the law. of food sovereignty and nutritional security recently approved, and will continue the exchange through initiatives such as SISA 2023.

The meeting addressed the possibility of giving greater institutionality and strategic vision to health issues, so that the State and the Cuban population appropriate this language and all the benefits of the "One Health" project.
