The Havana´s Historian Office is calling for entries for the contest La Bahia con rostro de Habaneras, about the role played by the capital´s women from ancient times to the present in this scenario. It is an initiative to promote the cultural values of the oldest part of the capital and its periphery.

It should identify buildings or any other element associated with the constructive development of this area that today constitutes a sample of this type of heritage.

Those interested may refer to the trades that women have practiced in this context throughout history and up to the present day, such as textile, food and beverage factories, electric power generation, railway transportation, port facilities and fishing.

Children from 7 to 18 years old may participate in the modalities of drawing, marquetry, modeling, cartoon, caricature, story, poetry, photography, audiovisual, and reportage, as well as young people from 18 to 30 years of age, and adults over 60 years old in the modalities of life stories, testimony, essay, monography, story, scientific article, anecdote and reportage, all with only one work per author.

They must include full name and surname, age, municipality of residence and contact telephone numbers. The call is also open to specialists in different sciences, researchers and people interested in the subject, between 30 and 60 years of age, individually or in groups, up to five authors, with more than one work, provided that the specific themes are not similar, in the modalities of scientific articles, monography, essay, biography and chronicle.

The deadline for the contest La Bahia con rostro de Habaneras is November 1st, 2021, and the awards ceremony will be celebrated on November 19th, on the occasion of the 502nd anniversary of the foundation of Villa de San Cristobal de la Habana.
