Last Sunday, September 12th, will become a memorable date for the residents of the community of El Fanguito, of the municipality Plaza de la Revolución, where 44 families receive the title deeds to their homes.

This is one of the main actions that are being carried out in Havana as part of the Integral Transformation Plan for 62 vulnerable neighborhoods, launched last July.

The legalization of the properties will allow the owners, among other rights, to receive subsidies for the remodeling of their homes, to register in the (Registro de Consumidores) Consumers Registry, to acquire the products of the basic food basket that are sold by the food card and to contract the service of manufactured liquefied gas for cooking.

This is the case of Marvelys Larrazábal Pons, from Guantanamo originally, who settled down there for more than 30 years and now was the first person to complete the procedures to receive the documentation that accredits her as the owner of her house.

Other beneficiaries, such as Mariet Suárez Villa and Reinier Aljonbin Méndez, that are natives of this humble neighborhood and very grateful for the agility of the processes, which have allowed them to enjoy a house that they have had to restore by their own efforts.

Aljobin Méndez, who is a teacher at the Saúl Delgado Duarte pre-university school and a descendant of the founding families of the community of El Fanguito, claimed that in this neighborhood they are living days of jubilee for the habilitation of permanent water service and the replacement of embankments by asphalted streets and sidewalks, among other improvements.

Another satisfaction, he said, was to perceive the concern of the Party and the Governments leaders and the support of the Ministry of Communications. 

The municipal director of Housing, Yinet Castilla Lara, explained that since May 2019, the Council of Ministers had approved the legalization of illegal or usufruct properties, but many people were unaware of this right.

The official added that at this moment 25 documents for the legalization of properties are being processed and that will facilitate the same amount of families living in the neighborhood to own their houses.

In addition to the actions in the Housing sector, this program of Transformations of the disadvantaged communities includes actions in the sectors of Hydraulic Resources, Communal, ETECSA (Telephone Company), Health, Education, Commerce and Gastronomy.

The delivery of the property titles took place at the Parque del Alzamiento, which was inaugurated this Sunday, as a permanent tribute to Dionisio San Román, military chief of the September 5th uprising in Cienfuegos, who was tortured by members of the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship and thrown to the Almendares River with the martyr Alejandro González Brito.

Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, member of the Central Committee Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba and head of the Ideological department, the maximum authorities of the PCC and the government of the capital, Teresa Amarelle Boue, member of the Political Bureau of the CC-PCC and general secretary of the Cuban Federation of Women (FMC) and Mayra Arévich also member of the CC-PCC and director of the Ministry of Communications, attended to the act.

The municipality of Plaza de la Revolución was represented by Leira Sánchez Valdivia, first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Osmani Peñate Arcia, President of the People´s Power Municipal Assembly.

The leaders also walked along the shores of the Almendares River where there will be executed actions in favor of the environmental care.
