On October 22, the Sixth National Workshop on therapeutic strategies in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) will take place in this capital; its present and future in Cuba.

The activity is part of the day dedicated to October, the month of rheumatic diseases and to the World Rheumatoid Arthritis Day, whose anniversary is commemorated every year on October 12, with the aim of educating people about rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders and to promote a better quality of life and treatments for those who suffer from them.

According to Dr. Yusimí Reyes Pineda, director of the Reference Center for Rheumatic Diseases, the main organizer of the event, representatives from all the hospitals in Havana, as well as from other provinces, will participate.

The lectures that will be given at the workshop cover the following topics:

▪ Immunomodulation with monoclonal antibodies in the treatment of RA.

 ▪ Progression of tissue damage in RA. Is it a clinical paradigm that changes with the use of new biological drugs?

▪ Translational medicine in RA: Contributions to therapeutics in the 21st century.

▪Interleukin 6 blockers: infections and vaccines.

▪ Biological fragility in rheumatoid arthritis.

▪ Why is the multicenter collection of epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic data important?

 ▪ Genetics and predictive medicine in RA.

▪Symposium. ``Jusvinza, an innovative drug from the Cuban biopharmaceutical industry for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases´´

1st Competition “Dr. Manuel Lombas in memoriam”: Presentation of clinical cases. In the Reference Center for Rheumatic Diseases Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico Docente 10 de Octubre, several actions have been conceived in addition to the workshop, they are the First Contest “Dr. Manuel Lombas in memoriam” for residents of Rheumatology, with the presentation of clinical cases and three more workshops, with the following titles: Labor and socioeconomic impact of rheumatoid arthritis´´ 10 years of follow-up of a cohort of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis. From prevention to innovative therapies `Jusvinza´´.
