This Tuesday, October 4, the Martí gathering will be held in the birthplace of José Martí in celebration of the World Day of the Elderly, whose anniversary was the first of October, but due to causes related to the passage of Hurricane Ian through the west of the country, was not held on that date.

The gathering will take place at 10 am and will be enlivened with a concert by the singer Noemí Valdés, director of the Coro Mariposas.

Another important event to be celebrated by the older adults of Havana and Cuba, is that a compatriot, the President of the Chair of the Elderly of the University of Havana, was nominated by the representations of the Pan American and World Health Organization in Cuba, for the recognition entitled “Healthy Aging 50”: 50 world leaders who contribute the most to the objectives of the Decade of Healthy Aging

The good news was announced in Guanabacoa, the small homeland of Orosa Fraíz, by Somnia Pérez Bravo, coordinator of the branch university chair for the elderly in the municipality. According to reports of the event, the nomination of Professor Orosa for this distinction was made taking into account her contribution from the academic sector, to research and contribution of the so-called healthy aging.
