Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples convenes the International Day for Peace and against the blockade

From September 2 to October 10, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) will celebrate the Day for Peace and against the blockade with various activities and shows of solidarity.

Convened by ICAP, the meeting will pronounce itself in rejection of the genocidal policy of blockade imposed by the US government, and the escalation of imperialist aggressiveness against Cuba.

The director of Communication and Historical Record of the institution, Tamara Velázquez, told the Cuban News Agency that it also ratifies the historical commitment of the Revolution with peaceful coexistence and nuclear disarmament.

The program of activities includes tributes to outstanding personalities, such as Salvador Allende, Agostinho Neto, Lucius Walker and Fabio di Celmo, and to the Puerto Rican independence cause.

Velázquez López explained that it is also addressed to the national public, which will be able to learn about the international accompaniment of friends of Cuba in other parts of the world for the immediate end of the blockade imposed on the country.

The program also includes tweets, including a continental call against the presence of military bases in the Latin American and Caribbean region.

For his part, Víctor Gaute, vice president of ICAP, thanked the many shows of support for the cause of the Cubans, at a time of particular complexity due to the resurgence of harassment and persecution of friends and solidarity groups with the largest of the Antilles.

The manager recalled that the vision of peace for the revolutionary government is closely linked to respect for the sovereignty and free self-determination of the peoples.

Gaute reiterated ICAP's rejection of all attempts at coercion and political pressure by the US administration against any show of support for the Caribbean nation.

The visits of North Americans in recent days, mostly young people interested in knowing the reality of Cuba, demonstrate the ridiculousness of continuing the policy of isolation and sanctions, he considered.
