World Science Prize awarded to the Central Institute of Pedagogical Sciences of Cuba

The president of the World Council of Academics and University Researchers (COMAU), Orlando Terre Camacho, presented the Eureka 2022 World Science Prize, in the Research Chair of Excellence Category, to the Central Institute of Pedagogical Sciences (ICCP), the award was received by its general director, Doctor of Science Silvia Navarro Quintero, at the closing of the II International Congress on Science and Education, which met in Havana with the assistance of 1,611 participants from 19 countries from different regions of the world.

On the final day of the meeting, chaired by Dr. Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, Minister of Education of Cuba, Dr. Liset Valdés Abreu, President of the Scientific Committee of the Congress and Director of Training and Collaboration of the ICCP, reading the rapporteur, highlighted that the meeting became a vital space for the exchange and socialization of scientific results and good practices in the work of researchers, teachers, managers, masters and doctoral students in training, from the movement generated from each municipality and province in the country, in response to the pressing problems faced by educational systems in pursuit of inclusive, equitable and quality education for all.

The conclave, which met in the capital from 13 to 17, ratified the role of science in raising the quality of education, considering inclusion and equity as the cornerstone for the transformation of society and the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

For his part, doctoral student Joaquín Cabunda Domingo, a professor from the People's Republic of Angola, when reading the final declaration, asserted that "teachers, professors, researchers and doctoral students gathered at the II International Conference on Science and Education are committed to new paradigms that guarantee confronting disasters, pandemics and socializing the best experiences to contribute to the fulfillment of the goals of the 2030 Agenda”.

"Unity and the call for peace in the world is our just demand, so that nothing tarnishes the education of our students from early childhood to university level, that there are no obstacles that limit development and the just right of peoples to their freedom and sovereignty," he said.

Under the slogan "Research and Innovate Agenda 2030", the meeting was held in virtual mode with face-to-face sessions, while the activities of the scientific program were organized around the role of educational research in the different contexts for the care of children. Sustainable Development Goals, the fight for peace and world citizenship and maximum efficiency in the integration processes of educational agents.
