Pediatric transplant program resumes with donation from Cuban emigrants

The Bridges of Love project, in another solidarity collusion with Cuban émigrés, breaks the United States blockade on Cuba to bring a sensitive donation, which will allow the country to resume the pediatric liver transplant program.

Representatives of the project arrived at the William Soler hospital in the capital to deliver a part of the essential chemical compound to carry out this type of surgical procedure.

A Cuban television report states that the chemical compound is difficult for Cuba to access because its production is linked to US patents.

The liver transplant program in the country has been stopped for two years due to the lack of this medicine, authorities from the Ministry of Public Health told this medium and explained that it will be resumed as a result of this solidarity gesture.

"This is the first step. We will send all the necessary medical material to save the lives of all children, Carlos Lazo, coordinator of the Puentes de Amor project, wrote on Facebook.

He also added: “We will continue to fight so that all the sanctions that punish the Cuban people are lifted, so that Cuba is removed from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism, so that, once and for all, the blockade is lifted. ”
