They will celebrate the VIII International Colloquium Cultural diversity in the Caribbean

On May 24 and 26, the VIII International Colloquium Cultural diversity in the Caribbean: Resilience and creation in pandemic scenarios will take place at the Casa de las Américas.

Based on the complexity of life at a global and regional level during the last two years, the new territories -physical and virtual- of cultural participation during the pandemic will be discussed.

Cubarte informs that the work of artists, intellectuals, academics and cultural actors in the communities will also be exchanged in order to make visible the fundamental problems derived from the period of expansion of the virus, as well as the alternatives to creation and generation. of cultural content beyond the limitations imposed by sanitary measures.

This media reports that different publications, websites and community projects have readjusted communication channels and work tools to achieve an impact on people's lives and concerns.

He points out that it constitutes a challenge, taking into account that these new forms of communication and cultural action take place in a space-time where daily life has become more precarious and where the global crisis due to the pandemic has converged with natural disasters, political violence and lack of resources to face the results of all this mixture of unfavorable conditions.

Despite the adversities, it recognizes that the presentations that will take place in the form of conferences, panels, audiovisuals and book circulation, show the potential of culture to contribute to transforming visions, expectations and realities for our peoples.
