Get to know winners in Cubadisco 2022

The album It will be over, by trumpeter and vocalist Alexander Abreu and Havana D' Primera, won the Cubadisco 2022 grand prize, a music industry event that distinguishes the best productions of the year.

Prensa Latina reports that the co-production, carried out between the Producciones Abdala studios and the Spanish company Páfata, won two other awards in the Dance Music and Sound Design sections, bringing together twenty musical hits from the 1980s and 1990s.

Founded in 2007 by Abreu, the orchestra rescued famous son and salsa songs in Cuba such as “Échale limon”, “More roll than a movie”, “Mi Salsa”, “You don't calculate me”, “A crazy adventure”, “ The dance of the tired ox” and “What I feel is leloley”.

During the award ceremony held at the Astral Theater in the capital, the jury distinguished the musical production of Abreu and the pianist Tony Rodríguez, as well as the teamwork of Havana D'Primera.

It will be over with the participation of musicians of the stature of Elito Revé, Manolito Simonet, Samuel Formell, César Pupy Pedroso, Maykel Blanco and Alain Pérez.

Also included are Giraldo Piloto, Leonel Limonta and Lázaro Valdés and the recently deceased National Music Prize winners, Adalberto Álvarez and José Luis Cortés.

More than 300 record productions competed for the highest Cubadisco 2022 award, granted for the largest event in the music industry in the country.

As part of the 25th edition of this musical that takes place in this capital, the Women with Hat plaque, by the popular singer and Latin Grammy winner, Isaac Delgado, together with producer Juan Manuel Ceruto, also won two awards for the singer-songwriter's recording notes. Marta Valdés, as well as in the anthology and versions section.

From the audiovisual point of view, the troubadour Liuba María Hevia deserved the distinction with her studio concert La Nueva Escuela, a tribute to the Icaic Sound Experimentation Group, while the vocal group Sampling stood out for its live recital on the occasion of its 30th anniversary.

Likewise, the tresera Yarima Blanco was awarded in the category of traditional peasant music by recognizing the contributions of the album Pa mi tres, a collaboration between Egrem and Soundwear Productions, under the baton of the Grammy Award winner and music producer, Roniel Alfonso.

For his part, the singer-songwriter Amaury Pérez deserved the award in the archive music category for the album Almost everything. Meanwhile, Jorge Amado and various performers won the trophies reserved for chamber music and musicological notes.

In the song and contemporary song sections, the albums La Rosa de Jericó and 50 Grados, by vocalists Ivette Cepeda and Kelvis Ochoa, won.

The Buena Fe band won the award for Best Single for the song La Fuerza de un País, a tribute to the doctors who faced the pandemic.

In the alternative music section, the rapper Telmary and her band Habana Sana were awarded, also winner in the specialty of graphic design for their album Mar Adentro.

Similarly, the Cubans Guille Vilar, Paulo FG, Enrique Álvarez and his Charanga Latina and Elio Revé received honor awards.
