1925. Lázaro Ross was born.

Since he was a kid he felt captivated by the enchantments of the songs and the drums´s rythm that were played at the bottom of his house in the Santos Suárez neighborhood. At the age of 13, he started to sing at celebrations dedicated to afrocuban deities, called fiestas de santos. Over years he became a sort of a legend due to his virtuosity, wisdom and committment to his art, becoming a great exponent of the afrocuban traditions. He owned the gift of turning the black people traditions into a display of art. In 1949 he presented to a Sunday folkloric musical TV show, broadcasted by Cadena Azul. A relevant moment of his artistic career was when, in 1959, after the Cuban Revolution´s Triumph, Argeliers León-one of the founders of Musicology in Cuba and antropologist- introduced him to the artistic world of the National Theater , where a casting was taking place for  discovering potential figures to develop  folkoric artistic shows.

in 1962 he founded the Conjunto Folclórico Nacional. His voice has trascended as one of the greatest apkwon(yoruba music singer) of Cuba. He was awarded with three Cubadisco award. In 2001, he was nominated to the Latin Grammy for his work Yemayá, which turned to be the best folk music álbum of that year.

He died in Havana on February 8,2005. His funeral service was a demonstration of the love and admiration the Cuban people feel for this singular artist.

1962. Commander Ernesto Che Guevara speaks about the development of the industrial branches at a Conference held at the Great Hall of the University of Havana.

He highlights the role the university could play in the development of researches and technical assistance to industries, while emphisizing on the importance and the need of increasing productivity in the country. ¨The acomplishment of a much bigger surplus is the most important task of the Revolutionary Government, therefore, productivity must be increased, the workers perfomance during their working hours, the machinery´s performance under the aim of lowering costs more and more, to use this surplus in the upcoming industries.
