Bill on Code of Families is moving to a new stage for its approval.

People´s opinion about the new Code of the Families ‘bill are being analyzed by the juridical authorities of Cuba.

Radio Ciudad informed that, as part of the people´s consultation of the project of law, between February 1st and April 30th almost 80 000 meetings were performed for compiling the people´s opinion about the new bill, which introduces technical and conceptual novelties about what is considered the main cell of the society.

This democratic exercise, which is becoming common in the judicial process of the country, gives continuity to prior experiences gathered by Cuban legislators, who opened permanent communication channels for people to express their opinions, doubts and concerns on the law project next to be approved by the Parliament.

According to this press-mean, members of the National Voting Council highlighted that over 6 000 500 people attended to the meeting of public consultations of the document in which more than 397 thousand propositions were made, which evidences people´s interest in participating in the process.

The consultation, according to experts, allowed to gather opinions and clarify doubts people might have about the document´s body on polemic issues while clarifying false information circulating on social networks.

Authorities, in a follow-up debrief with President Miguel Díaz-Canel, informed that progress is being made on the processing of people´s opinions about marriage, adoption, surname´s order, parental responsibilities, solidarity gestation and discrimination inside the family environment.

Radio Ciudad pointed out that 61% of the opinions showed agreement with the legal body; the 20,36% suggested some modifications and the 12,69 requested to eliminate some issues from the document.

The new Code of the Families gives legal continuity to the rights consecrated in the Constitution of 2019, updating the Cuban legal frame and facing it to the current international legislation, and over all, provides institutional support for transformations occurred in the social and family environment.
