Angolan women visit local development project in Havana

Representatives of the Angolan Women's Organization (OMA) visited today the Jon-Athan CG local development project, located in the capital's municipality of Playa.

The delegation, headed by Joana Tomás Martins, member of the Central Committee of the Movement for the Liberation of Angola and secretary general of the OMA, learned about the creative process of this family enterprise, located in the Buena Vista Popular Council, dedicated to the production of phytocosmetic products, whose composition is entirely natural.

Anabel González Medina, owner of the project, explained that she promotes beauty and esthetics, but from an optimal state of health and wellbeing, based on the use of Cuba's native natural resources.

She said she systematically studies the country's botany to learn about the characteristics and properties of the species used in her creations.

We look for the highest index of organic active ingredients in our products (soaps, creams and lotions) and create our own recipes, which we then validate with the relevant institutions, such as the National Institute of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, said González Medina.

Jon-Athan CG's sources of supply are local herbalists and agro-markets, and it expands, according to its creator, to the field of action of dermo-cosmetic consultancy, because when they receive a client they explain in detail the importance of their skin and the influence that knowledge and care have on other spheres of life.

Our commitment to the buyer does not end with the sale of the product; we offer an after-sales service that allows us to measure indicators such as consumer satisfaction and thus improve our work, he said.

He pointed out that customer service is detailed both by age groups and by the shelf life of the products, which, being preservative-free, must be used within six months.

Tomás Martins expressed his interest in this project led by a woman, in which nature is used for healthy cosmetics, unlike what happens in Angola, where there is a great variety of medicinal plants, but their use for this branch is incipient.

The visit of WCO members to the Caribbean nation takes place as part of the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, which was held until Monday on the occasion of International Workers' Day.

Their journey in the largest of the Antilles, accompanied by the Federation of Cuban Women, included a tribute to African leader António Agostinho Neto, and in the coming days they plan a meeting with Inés María Chapman Waugh, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic, and an exchange with Women's and Family Guidance Centers.
