Vaccine and Cuban drugs outcomes against Covid-19 will be presented in BioHabana 2022 Congress.
The International Congress BioHabana 2022 will take place, both virtually and in-person, from April 25th to 29 at the Convention Palace of Havana, with the attendance of more than 900 specialists from more than 50 countries.
Eduardo Martínez Díaz, president of the BioCubaFarma Business Group and the Organizing Committee of the event, forwarded that, during the meeting, people could learn about the results obtained with the vaccines and some other drugs developed by Cuba to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was announced, likewise, that a report on the breakthroughs obtained in the treatment or cancer, as well as in the clinical trial with vaccine Cimavax-EGF which is a joined research between the Molecular Immunology Center and the Roswell Park Institute of Unites States, will be presented at the meeting.
Among other topics, Martínez Díaz mentioned the ones related to Bioprocesses, neurodegenerative diseases and the results gotten in the clinical trial with the drug Neuroepo, with which a register conditioned to Alzheimer was possible.

With the logo ¨A science for a healthy life¨, the event will host more than 230 in-person conferences and a similar number virtually performed on issues such as Covid-19, the medic technology and the 4.0 industry, the chronic swelling, cancer and auto-immunity, agricultural biotechnology and brain diseases.

On his side, Rolando Pérez, of Science and Innovation of this center and head of the scientific committee of the event, said to the Prensa Latina News Agency, that the United States delegation will be one of the biggest, followed by the one from Mexico.
He also pointed out that, there will not also be a wide attendance of scientific personalities, but also enterprises linked to the biotechnological and pharmaceutical environment coming from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Venezuela, El Salvador, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina and others.
Pérez announced that BioHabana 2022 will count on the presentations of two Nobel Prizes, the American immunologist James P. Allison, who got this award in Medicine on 2018 for his discoveries of new treatments for more lethal cancers in humans and researches focused on the development and activation mechanisms of the T-cells, and some breakthroughs on immunotherapy against tumors.
Richard John Roberts, Nobel Prize in Medicine shared with Phillip A. Sharp, in 1993 for their work on introns, which are fragments of DNA that has nothing to do with genetic information while discovering that the information deposited in a gen is not presented as a sequence but fractioned.
Around 600 research works, gathered in 8 general themes will be presented in BioHabana 2022; a propitious moment for scientific interchange for the establishment of alliances that might allow a greater impact on Public Health.
