International Festival of Videodance DVDanza Havana Movement and City returns.
The 16th edition of the International Video Dance Festival DVDanza Habana Movimiento y Ciudad will be held in the Cuban capital from April 22 to 24.
The event reserves a diverse program, with a large presence of works received in previous events, which in 2020 was canceled and in 2021 took place virtually due to Covid-19.
On this occasion, the event will host Cuban artists such as Carolina Romillo, who will be in charge of the opening of the meeting with the world premiere of the audiovisual The power upon us, made together with Cuban dance greats: Santiago Alfonso and Rosario Cárdenas.
Cubaescena specifies that the Diversity Hall will once again be the faithful venue of the event with the exhibition Melancolía de la tierra (Melancholy of the Earth), and also part of our official selection returns to the premises of the Cuban Art Factory.
A new and important cultural center will also host the work of video dance in the Historic Center of the Cuban capital: Espacios Creativos, where an important part of our program will be held on Friday 22 at 2:00 pm, with the official opening of the world premiere of the work The power upon us, by Carolina Romillo (photo of the poster).
According to the official Facebook profile of the company Danza Teatro Retazos, the event will also be attended by Caribbean dancer and choreographer Abel Rojo and Argentinean teacher Silvina Szperling.
At the same time, the International Festival of Dance in Urban Landscapes, known as Habana Vieja Ciudad en Movimiento (Old Havana City in Movement), will take place in the streets, parks and squares of the Cuban capital, using emblematic sites of the city as stages.
In its return to the on-site format, the event will be held in strict compliance with the measures implemented in the country to prevent the spread of Covid-19, while presenting a varied program of master classes, lectures, panels, staging, exhibitions and video screenings.
Founded in 1996, the festival combines the talent of artists from different nations who break into the daily life of the streets of Old Havana to bring spectators closer to the most contemporary samples of dance and its fusion with other manifestations. From April 22 to 24, the 16th edition of the International Festival of Videodance DVD Havana Movement and City will be held in the Cuban capital.
