Under the moto Reading is growing, the 30th International Book Fair of Havana will take place from April 20 to 30 with the attendance of more than 276 guests from 32 countries.

Prensa Latina(PL) informed that the organizers of the event, stated at a press conference hosted at the International Press Center, that the activities linked to this event will be extended to all the municipalities of the capital.

Juan Rodríguez, President of the Cuban Book Institute , shared some features of this fair, that will receive the Mexican United States as  guest of honor this year and confirmed the attendance of 96 exhibitors, distributors, publishing houses from some other nations such as Peru, Argentina, Bolivia and Venezuela.

Rodríguez meant that this is the second occassion where the aztec nation is invited as guest of honor, since the first time was in 1998.

This huge endevour is the expression of the existent love between the two nations, expressed Santiago Ruíz, Cultural Affairs delegate of the Mexican Embassy in the Island who recalled the intervention of Cuba in the Cervantino Festival last year. 

More than 20 authors-pointed out Rodríguez- will show the different faces of Mexico through poetry, essay, narrative while the artistic delegation will be distinguished by its music, dance and theater since the very first openning gala of the event.

Ruiz stressed that the arrival of the Huasteco de la Armada Mexicana to the island means the arrival of 26 000 scientific texts, children´s literature , destined to e donated to cultural and educational institutions of the Antillean nation.

He highlighted a panel to be display about the bonds of friendship between Cuba and Mexico, that will be joined to the retrospective exhibit to be displayed at the Castle of the Royal Force.

Nancy Hernández, director of Professional Program, offered information detailing the schedule of awards of the event, as well as the theoretical event that includes colloquium focussed on the centeraries of poets Carilda Oliver Labra and Jesús Orta Ruiz and the 120th anniversary of Nicolas Guillen´s birth.

The most trascendental event of the Cuban publishing sector will be developed, as usual, in its regular seat of Parqur Histórico Militar San Carlos de la Cabaña to which some other branches in the Historic Center of the city will be joined such as Finca de los Monos and Feria Agropecuaria of Rancho Boyeros, summarized PL.
