The Ministry of Science, Technology and environment (Citma in Spanish) highlighted the work done by Cuban scientists with the Provincial Award of Technical Innovation, corresponding to years 2020 and 2021.  

Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, first Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Havana,  in the ceremony, carried out in the Empresa de Tecnologías de la Información y Servicios Telemáticos Avanzados, En la ceremonia, efectuada en el teatro de la Empresa de Tecnologías de la Información y Servicios Telemáticos Avanzados, considered the acheivments of science during the two years of COVID-19.

Torres Iríbar highlighted that Cuba has always been a country of outstanding people who has made their nation remarkable in the world.

He expressed that all recognized scientists are focused in solving society problems and it is shown in the issues dealt with, connected to everyday problems.

The executive said that making science and innovation today is related to life; at the same time he recognized that the change the country needs in the ability we have to put science at the level of the current times.  

Doctor in Sciences Adela Haber Vega, delegate of Citma in the territory, emphasized the scientific results in these months of pandemic and in the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade.

She said the provincial awards are related to the health of the population, the production of food , materials and technology for construction , the energy development from renewable sources , as well as what is related to society, human development and sustainable environmental issues. 

Haber Vega stated that the capital has a crew of more than 19 thousand professionals devoted to science, technology and innovation, who, as the ones accompanying Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, will continue supporting the construction of a sustainable and prosperous socialism.

We can find the significant role in the population health of the vaccines                                                  Abdala and the Soberanas against the  COVID-19; medications like  Nasalferón and Jusvinza; and the replacement of the monoclonal antibodies Itolizumab and Nimotuzumab among the prizewinners.

The virtual searcher, the Cuban Project of emergency ventilation, The Cuban Public   Record of Clinical Trials and the panel of indicators in serum for the diagnosis of prostate cancer, among others, were recognized due to its benefits

Awards were given to the production of food to results like the ensilage of fishing byproducts, the management of phytonematode in banana and pineapple, besides the obtaining of Sacha Inchi oil and its industrial processing and the development of the chain of sericulture on sustainable bases.  

Other awards were focused on the oil exploitation, the infrastructure for services payment and the electronic trade Transfermóvil and the suite of mobiles applications iLex.

Likewise awards were given to innovations in the development of wind energy, in the obtaining and application of microorganisms in the decontamination of organic residuals and to a complete solution for the defense of the coasts against floods,partially excecuted for the area of the traditional Malecon of Havana.

Outstanding professionals were given the  Sello Conmemorativo Aniversario 60 de la fundación del Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación, la Ciencia y el Deporte.

 Likewise, Sello Valientes por la Vida to the Institute of Phylosofy, that belongs to Citma and the Distinción Honorífica Juan Tomás Roig (1877- 1971), to those who have had a long experience in the field and had made contributions to the country.

 Awards on Technological Innovation have the aim of recognizing the results that make the innovating capacity of the companies and entities included in the budget higher, because of new or considerably improved products, goods and services, as well as processes and technologies with economic, social or environmental impact.
