Cuban and the Czech Republic scientists sign a Memorandum of Understanding

 A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Havana by the highest representatives of the Institute of Meteorology of Cuba (INSMET in Spanish) and the Institute of Research on Global Change, the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic (CzechGlobe).

Doctor Celso Pazos Alberdi, the General Director of the first Institute signed the document. His colleague Michal V. Marek, who leads a delegation on an official visiting Havana, since last Saturday, did the same.

The document comprises the actions to do during the next years to reinforce research, monitoring and the human resources preparation regarding science and technical.

Marek mission had the purpose of establishing a scientific collaboration between both scientific institutions, as Czech Globe is notable for its international actions with various countries of Europe and also in tropical areas like Vietnam in Asia and Ghana in the African continent. 

Its main objective is to give a complete an excellent research since the knowledge about the impact of climate change: atmosphere, ecosystems and society.   

 

INSMET is transcendental in scientific research related to time and weather, with important concepts on weather transformations at national and international level and is one among few in Latin America to predict on the particular topic.

 

According to the visitors´ program an exchange with executives of the Agencia del Medio Ambiente, del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Medio Ambiente was held on Friday 28th.

 

Scientists from the Czech Republic, which capital city is Prague and is located in Europe, arrived in Havana last Saturday. The next day they visited interesting places in the city and were welcomed at INSMET, where they had information about its Center of Contamination and Chemistry of the Atmosphere         

 

Later, they were at the Scientific Council of the institution, where they were given explanations about greenhouse effect gases monitoring Stations in some  

land ecosystems and had an Exchange with researchers.
