Children learn about technology, history and culture

Last Thursday morning, at the Palacio del Segundo Cabo: center for the interpretation of Cuba-European cultural relations children were welcomed again, this time to conclude the cycle of summer workshops given in conjunction with the Havana Planetarium and the framework of the International Cooperation Project Strenthening of local capacities in digitalization, technologies for the conservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Village of San Cristóbal de la Havana in  the framework of its 500 anniversary and the improvement of the quality of its inhabitants, with the support of the Basque Government, the Basque Agency for the Development Cooperation and the Tecnalia Research&Innovation Foundation of Spain.

After a tour around the rooms of the Palace, the results and experiences of the participants in the workshops, which were held in the virtual mode in July and August in response to the epidemiological situation caused by Covid-19 outbreak, were shared at the meeting.

The two courses offered were focussed on the dissemination of concepts of 4.0 technologies among children and youth, and two complementary modules that linked the theoretical knowledge of history and culture with the use of digital basic tools:

Creative animation with Scratch: Stories from the Palacio del Segundo Cabo.

Design and 3D modeling of architectural elements of Palacio del Segundo Cabo.

As part of these workshops children were able to create their own stories, program videos and simple games and represent elements of Havana´s architectural elements such as the cistern and columns of the Palacio del Segundo Cabo.
