Alina Rodríguez  was one of the most relevant Cuban actresses of all times. She was admired because of her histrionic talent and was also loved due to her nobility as a human being. The famous artist, who performed not only in theater but also in movies and on television, was born in Havana on October 4th, 1951. Despite having a degree as a morbid anatomy technician, she studied at the (Higher Institute of Arts) and got the degree of  Bachelor in Arts, in 1982.

Rodriguez had a more than three decades successful career.Her character in the film Maria Antonia, directed by Sergio Giralt, established her as an actress of the Cuban movie. Her performance in plays like: Contigo pan y cebolla, of the Cuban play wright Héctor Quintero and En el parque, of the Russian writer Alexander Guelman, staged by the group Teatro Estudio, is unforgettable. She shared her performance in the second play mentioned before, with the famous actor Adolfo Llaurado, in a memorable theater season for the public and the specialized critics.

The role of Justa in the novel “Tierra Brava”, the one in the movie “Maria Antonia”, in 1990 and the role of the teacher in the film “Conducta” are among the actress most relevant performances.  Alina was also a performance professor and also directed amateur and professional actors and actresses in community theater projects. She was several times awarded because of her brilliant professional career.  Alina Rodriguez died of cancer on July 27th, 2015 in Havana. Her ashes were spread in the sea, near the Torreon de la Chorrera, next to the Restaurante 1830, in Vedado. Her death is an irrevocable loss for the Cuban culture.
