Parque Forestal de la Habana reopens its doors

The Havana Forest Park (Parque Forestal de la Habana) known as the Dinosaurs Park, reopened its doors this October 3rd with its regular schedule from 10:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday, always complying with the sanitary protocols stablished to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

At the entrance of this recreational center, located on 26th Street and Ciclovías, just behind the Joaquín Albarrán Clinical Surgical Hospital, in the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución, visitors ‘temperature is taken and their hands are sanitized with a chlorinated water solution.

During our visit this Friday, we were able to see that the main attraction is a dozen animatronic replicas of dinosaur species, which makes gestures and emit sounds that provoke the amazement and delight if children.

Children can also enjoy the amusement parks with all the equipment in operation, and starting this Saturday, the attractions include boat rides on an artificial lagoon.

The non-state sector is also present with recreational offers such as inflatable slides, jumping nets, and all-terrain carts. This proposal is completed with the sale of handmade toys and other articles for children as well as the gastronomic services of the leased cafeterias.

The director of the park, Cándido Rodríguez Saab, explained that due to the economic situation of the country, the state suppliers have had difficulties to guarantee supplies and some light food.

Even so, the lunch service provided by El Ranchón, which is reserved at the entrance ticket office, is still active with a menu consisting of pork, congrí and viands accompanied by dispensed soft drinks.

At the end of the tour, we confirmed that this rural facility, ideal for physical distancing, preserves the splendor given to it by the restoration and expansion carried out in 2019 to celebrate Havana´s 500th  anniversary.
