Known as Pupy, he comes from a family of musicians. In his musical career he has been a member of several musical groups, among others, the orchestras Fascinación, Sensación, Revé and the Conjunto Bolero. Later, together with Juan Formell, he founded the orchestra Los Van Van. He remained in that group until 2001, when he organized his own orchestra Pupy y los que son, son. His work has had transcendence in Cuban musical history as a pianist, arranger, composer and orchestra conductor.

Juan Formell

In the field of music, he was a director, bassist, arranger, composer, singer and record producer. He is among the most important of the popular musical culture of Cuba in the 20th and 21st centuries. Of his authorship stand out dissimilar songs that reflect in a special way the life of the Cuban people. In 1969 he created the legendary Van Van Orchestra. The Latin Recording Academy in 2013 recognized him with the Special Award for Musical Excellence.

Pupy y los que son, son

It is a musical group founded on October 4, 2001 by pianist and composer César Pedroso. With a personal seal the orchestra creates a different treatment in the tumbaos, achieving a new style of Timba. The project was formed by musicians who were still studying at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) and others coming from different orchestras, most of them young and talented.
