#S1Mariel

It is a municipality in the province of Artemisa. Its name comes from an ancient aboriginal chiefdom named Marien, which belonged to the Guaniguanico people when the Spaniards arrived in Cuban territory. It is currently a special development zone where regimes and policies are applied with the objective of promoting sustainable economic development through foreign investment, technological innovation and industrial concentration in order to increase exports, import substitution and generate new sources of employment.

Ñico López Communist Party High School

It was founded on December 2, 1960.  It has its headquarters in the area of Barlovento, Playa municipality, in Havana. In December 1978, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party agreed to convert the provincial schools into university branches and the National School into a special type of Higher Education Center, in order to train graduates in Social Sciences.

Veterans' Pantheon

It was initially built in 1926, but the planned capacities did not meet the needs. In 1940 a larger Mausoleum was built, which is still standing today. It was the work of the architects Enrique Luis Varela, Francisco Ramirez and the designer Diego Guevara, with the bronze reliefs of the sculptors Juan José Sicre and Florencio Gelabert. The monument has a marked influence of rationalism, as each space is functional. The ample terraces that are destined to the concentration of public on the days of commemoration stand out.

Colón Cemetery

The history of this Havana cemetery dates back to 1854, however, it was not completed until July 2, 1886, by Spanish architect Calixto de Loira. Because of the great number of monuments by national and foreign sculptors of dissimilar architectural manifestations and styles, Havana's Colon Cemetery is of great significance and is also a source of attraction for those who visit the Cuban capital and are captivated by the appreciation of funerary art in our country. It is the largest in Cuba and one of the largest in Latin America. Its structure is rectangular in the shape of a Roman camp and is composed of a grid of streets, blocks and lots. The Christopher Columbus Necropolis was declared a National Monument on February 18, 1987.
