493 of the 8 517 new positive identified cases of Covid- 19 are from La Habana

Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, September 17th, stated that, 8517 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 792 993.

To date, 6733 deaths by coronavirus (57 belong to the day) have been reported, and 39 079 active cases of which 38 614(98.8%) with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 8456(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 747 074(94.2%) medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 145 critical patients and 320 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 493 belong to the capital, of them 492 are native and 1 imported. We regret 5 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital: Cerro (2 deaths), Boyeros y Cotorro (1 death each).

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased to a 432.6% placing the capital in fortieth position in the country.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Habana del Este (50), Boyeros (49), Arroyo Naranjo (47), Diez de Octubre (44), Playa (39), Marianao (37), Cotorro (33), Guanabacoa (31), Cerro (30), Plaza de la Revolución (28), Centro Habana (26), La Lisa (23), Habana Vieja (22), San Miguel del Padrón (20), and Regla,14.

58 517 test were studied for Covid- 19, with a result of 8456 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 8 948 334 analyzed samples of which 792 933 were positive.

Of the confirmed cases, 8517 people were contacts of confirmed cases; 16 with source of infection from abroad and 16 with unknown source of infection.

There were 492 native cases this Tuesday and 1 were imported of which 4092 female and 3536 male cases.

This Tuesday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to a 4.7 %(399), for a total of 123 961 which represents 15.6% of the confirmed cases to date.

Of the 7516 confirmed cases, 1920 were under 20 years of age; 2027 between 20 and 39; 3619 between 40 and 59 and 1951, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in September 17th, 2021 is 0.84% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.06% for the world and the 2.47 % for the Americas region.
