The quality of life of the comunity of Marianao is being improved

An integral transformation of neighborhoods is being carried out in Havana under the purpose of not only decorate the environment and buildings but to bring some improvements to communities.

The Cuban revolution seeks to increase the quality of life of the citizens living on the 62 communities identified as highly vulnerable, spiritually and materially speaking. Among them, 5 belong to the Marianao municipality.

Since late July a wave of changes started in order to benefit the inhabitants of the communities.

As part of the process, a census was carried out for identifying the families that do not have the food card (1629).

It was learned that there are homes without legal documents, 799 people without employment and 131 people without any link with education centers.

There were detected 119 mothers of three or more children with punctual needs such as the lack of placement in kindergartens or semi-boarding-schools (39) and 135 vulnerable families requiring cash benefits.

The streets paving is another of the works being carried out in the locality.

This renovating movement of hope and opportunities intends to involve the inhabitants of Marianao in this unprecedented event in recent years.

New or renovated cultural spaces have been opened, such as the local selected for housing the Pocitin Project, the Casa de la Cultura de Marianao and the municipal museum, just to mention a few.

At the same time the 139 stores for delivering the food basket through food cards and the family doctor’s and nurses’ offices will show off the culture of the detail.

Hard work is being done in the paving of the streets and the provision of drinking water service to hundreds of families that are currently served by water pipes.

In this first stage the work is concentrated in Pocito, Zamora, Palmar,Cocosolo and Husillo but it is intended to expand it to the remaining corners of the municipality.
