The need for a change in the vision and acting in regard with domestic economy, facing the increase of home admitted patients during this stage of Covid – 19 pandemic, was a subject of discussion by the Temporary Working Group (GTT in Spanish) against Covid-19 pandemic in Havana during the meeting held this Friday, August 6th.

Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, member of the Central Committee and Prime Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party, explained the importance of developing a communicative strategy to insist on better ways of reducing contagious on population.

He pointed out that they are also indicators pursued by maximum direction of the country, concerned about transmission rate of the pandemic within homes and families.

It is a moment of a strict discipline and which are essential for overcoming this battle.

Some of the people’s opinions, which are traditionally analyzed in these meetings, were about role played by doctors and nurses in doctor’s offices who must comply with sanitary protocols and to attend to home-admitted patients, the need for keeping discipline in isolation centers and concerns about whether the inquiry is being done or not in some neighborhoods.

About this last subject, Torres Iríbar stated that monitoring population studies in one of the target missions of the created work teams in the communities, integrated by members of the mass organizations, specialists and headed by the local constituency’s delegate for the Municipal Assembly and enterprises’ chairman.

Epidemiological situation

In the day there were 14 177 samples tested, of which 1537 were positives to Covid-19; three of them were imported and in all cases it was possible to track source of infection.

Incidence rate has increased in the last 15 days in the capital. Marianao, Centro Habana, La Habana Vieja, La Lisa, Cotorro, Boyeros, Diez de Octubre, Guanabacoa, Playa , Habana del Este, and Arroyo Naranjo are the municipalities with a more complex situation. 

There were 43 active events in the province.

At the beginning of the day there were controlled 4093 epidemiological focuses and at the end of it, there were 395 focuses closed. At the same time it is extended closure date of 629 focuses, due to the existence of positive cases in the day.

54 workers for the Health Sector were confirmed with Covid-19, 8 of them with institutional infection source.

There remain 21 111 patients admitted (some in hospitals, some at home). Of this amount, 3949 active cases, it is 272 less than previous day.

Of the amount of admissions, 681 are children, of them, 113 under 1 year of age. This Thursday were moved to hospitals 180 confirmed children, among them 24 under 1 year of age.

98 patients are being attended in Intensive Care Unit, of them, 37 critical and 58 seriously ill.

There were reported 10 associated deaths by Coronavirus. Their evolution was analyzed as for unstable critical cases which cases were evaluated taking into account their ages and co-morbidities.
