Maximum authorities of the Temporary Working Group of Havana oriented, this Friday, the strict compliance of all the sanitary protocols to prevent and control the Covid 19.

 The First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, pointed out that distance measures should be kept in the centers of protection of people with vulnerable housing so that they do not become spaces for viral transmission.

The disinfection of these facilities will be guaranteed and permanent use of face masks is mandatory.

Likewise, the devices in the Health System will be kept active for the attention to suggestive (symptomatic patients that have been not tested for antigens) and suspicious patient.

Working groups at the provincial and municipal levels will ensure the implementation of the approved plan of measures to reinforce the fight against the epidemic.

The entire health intervention infrastructure will also be ensured. The working meeting began with an explanation given by Gabriel Trujillo Sánchez, a specialist from the Meteorological Institute, on the two possible scenarios for the capital.

The most favorable forecast, the eye of the hurricane will go out to the sea through the central area of the country and will not directly affect La Habana, so there will be not major flooding or strong winds.

The second probability is that the center of the hurricane will approach the east of the city, in the vicinity of the Guanabo Popular Council and them it will be accompanied by winds and flooding on the coast and other vulnerable areas.

I both scenarios there will be heavy rainfall that could be between 150 and 200 millimeter per hour, the greatest intensity of the affectations would be registered between Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

The meteorologist predicted that as the hurricane enter the country it will lose intensity.

Major Yunier Hernandez Soto, head of the Civil Defense in Havana, released the informative note from the Meteorological Institute.

At the meeting, Torrez Iríbar defined the actions to be taken in order to achieve an effective response to the meteorological phenomenon, prioritizing the safety of people and material resources.

The heads of the subgroups that make up the Temporary Working Group (GTT) discussed the measures that have begun to be implemented to guarantee the production of bread and cookies and the vitality of basic services.

The municipal working groups will point out the actions to comply with the Disaster Reduction Plan.

This Saturday, the authorities in the territories will also present to the Temporary Working Group (GTT) the adequacy of the plan of measures to strengthen the fight against the epidemic.

Incidence of Covid 19

The analysis of the epidemiological situation began with the report of the provincial commissions that oversees the protocols of protection and control of Covid- 19 in the municipality of Diez de Octubre where deficiencies were identified.

This territory has registered a continuous increase of cases in the last few days and strong actions are needed to enforce the established regulations to cut the transmission of Covid-19.

Dr. Emilio Delgado Iznaga, provincial health director, updated that at the end of Thursday, 8332 samples were studied and 465 positive cases confirmed, 10 of them are not native. 

The 465 cases are contacts of confirmed cases and of them 79, under 18 years old.

It is reported 33 critical and 62 serious patients in the intensive care unit.

The city accumulates 51active epidemiological events in 4 municipalities, of which 43 are community cases.

Epidemiological focus controls remains open in the 15 municipalities, with the highest number in Diez de Octubre (148), Arroyo Naranjo (126),Marianao (108), La Lisa(107), Boyeros (104) and Habana Vieja (85).
