Caridad Hierrezuelo dies in La Habana

She was exceptionally popular in Cuba and was known as La Guarachera de Oriente thanks to her own version of the song “Guarapo, pimienta y sal”, among other songs that were also very popular. His brother Reinaldo Hierrezuelo was the writer of this song. She was one of the women who performed in special programs on television and on the radio as well as in the most important night clubs and theaters of the country.

Reinaldo Hierrezuelo

He was born on December 30, 1926 in Santiago de Cuba. He was one of the most important figures of the Cuban popular music and part of the legendary duo Los compadres. He played the tres, sang and imitated the sounds of different musical instruments. He was known as the “human flute” for his talent to whistle. He was also the author of more than 30 musical works. He died in Havana on February 23, 2016.
