It is a town located in the Boyeros municipality. It covers an area of 38, 3 square kilometers. Taino Indians dwelled in this area, as they had settled mainly in the western region, as proved by findings of Indian rests or objects on the shores of the Ariguanabo River, Ariguanabo being a pure Taino word.

It is a Council of the municipality of Diez de Octubre in the province of Havana. The street Santos Suarez, which identifies this suburb, got that name from Leonardo Santos Suarez y Pérez. This man was elected as a deputy in the elections held in the 19th century.

It was created on March 11, 1958 in the mountains of Oriente province under the leadership of then Commander Raúl Castro. It was part of the strategy of Commander Fidel Castro to expand the radius of action of the Rebel Army that developed the revolutionary struggle against the Batista dictatorship.

 It is an emblematic Cuban musical group. It was created by Ignacio Pinero as a sextet on December 13, 1927 in Havana. A while later he added a trumpet player and the group became a septet.  It essentially helped the development of Son as a musical genre.

It was a Cuban military institution created in 1934 with the objective of monitoring the internal movements of the army or others that affected the security of the state and public institutions. After the 1952 coup d'état, it became one of the main repressive bodies at the service of the dictatorship. After the triumph of the Cuban Revolution it was dissolved on February 18, 1959.

It constitutes a movement of poetry that highlights the culture of the Indians who were the primitive inhabitants of Cuba. It is a manifestation that develops in Spanish America and forms an aspect of a poetry of nationalist affirmation.
