In order to address progress and deepen the intersectorality between health, animal care and ecosystems, the National Congress Una Sola Salud will be developed for the first time in Cuba from 22 to 24 April at the Havana Convention Palace.

   The meeting is part of the activities of the Cuba Health Convention 2025, sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health.

  Odalys Bravo, coordinator of the Congress, said that 200 delegates are expected to participate, in a face-to-face and virtual manner, including international leaders, 12 experts and representatives of various agencies of the United Nations.

     The academic programme consists of 20 panels and 12 lectures on the results of the implementation of the Animal Welfare Act, the Health Act, as well as topics on zoonoses, food safety, antimicrobial resistance, integrated surveillance, vocational training and communication.

 He also highlighted the presence of the ministries of agriculture, education, higher education, the Food Industry, Energy and Mines, Hydraulic Resources and Civil Defense, in addition to political and mass organizations for their involvement in the government project and Una Sola Salud health strategy, approved in 2023.

     Bravo highlighted that Cuba organizes this first Congress with positive results in the harmonization of the avian influenza algorithm in humans and animals, integrated training between various institutions and proposals analyzed to create the Una Lola Salud Observatory in the Caribbean nation.

    The Un Solo Salud Congress will continue in an International Workshop from 28 to 30 April, to carry out evaluation of the country's experiences with this approach.
