The internationalist medal on the chest of a Havana doctor

By Ania González Rodríguez

Among the Cuban women who have fulfilled an internationalist mission in Timor Leste or East Timor, considered the youngest and poorest nation in Asia, is the specialist in natural medicine Leticia Saldivar González who, regarding this Day of Tribute to the Health Worker, received the internationalist medal, in the presence of his work group, the Comandante Manuel Piti Fajardo Clinical Surgical Hospital, in Havana.

During her work days in Timor-Leste, Dr. Saldívar González evoked some very exciting ones for her, especially experiences when she cared for children and when she asked the mothers the name of their little one, they had given him the name of Fidel in recognition of Cuba or when she had the mission of opening the first family doctor's office there, where they did not know about community work; that office was inaugurated by the President of the Republic; a very nice experience.

After the medal of internationalist worker was placed on her chest, we were able to listen very motivated, what it means for this simple and consecrated doctor to receive such well-deserved recognition; So she told us:-"Today I feel happy, I feel fulfilled and very proud, this is a very important recognition from the social point of view.
