Havana today hosts the International Symposium for World Thrombosis Day

 This Friday, the International Symposium for World Thrombosis Day, which is commemorated every October 13, will be held in Havana.

 The Institute of Hematology and Immunology and the Cuban Society of Hematology are the institutions that have convened this event, which will focus on updating the management of thrombophilias, pathologies that are characterized by forming clots that obstruct blood flow and sickle cell disease that affects the shape of red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body.

The inaugural conference will be given by Dr. Aida Crespo Guerra who will discuss the history of anticoagulation in Cuba, another topic will be: Launch of Cuban Anticoagulation Guides.

The rest of this meeting between numerous professionals, both national and foreign, will be dedicated to the discussion of topics such as: Impact of thrombotic complications from the perspective of the internist: How to anticoagulate patients with cardiovascular diseases?; the multidisciplinary management of pregnant women with thrombophilia; Cerebrovascular disease in pediatric patients with sickle cell disease and Current affairs in transfusion medicine.
