This day in Havana race in tribute to October 10

From nine in the morning, the race for October 10 is celebrated in Havana this Monday, in homage to the start of the War of Independence in Cuba against Spanish colonialism, reports Cubadebate.

Convened by the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder), as is traditional, this event will also greet World Food Day, which is celebrated on October 16 of each year, proclaimed in 1979 by the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture.

In the race for October 10, which is sponsored by the FAO, this time under the motto Leave no one behind, the participants must complete a circuit of four kilometers and 219 meters, Carlos Gattorno, director of the National Commission of Races and Walks (CNCC).

He added that all elite runners from Havana and from the Cerro Pelado and Giraldo Córdova Cardín high-performance athlete training schools were invited.

Likewise, those classified for Marabana 2022 were summoned, who obtained their quotas in the Cacahual-Ciudad Deportiva tests; Race for Mandela and Ideal Olympic Race.

The first three places will be awarded in both sexes, and in the usual categories of popular tests.
