Argentine agency sends humanitarian aid to Cuba

The Argentine Agency for International Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance – White Helmets (ACIAH) sends humanitarian aid to Cuba this Monday to collaborate in its recovery after the passage of Hurricane Ian.

The Argentine Foreign Ministry reported in a statement on its website that the load is made up of 19 boxes of PYAM water purification tablets, which will make it possible to make up to 950,000 liters of water drinkable and will benefit nearly 2,000 people for 90 days.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Santiago Cafiero, the Argentine ambassador to Cuba, Luis Ilarregui, and the president of the ACIAH, Sabina Frederic, decided to offer the Cuban authorities the necessary humanitarian aid to deal with the damage caused by the hurricane.

The statement from the Foreign Ministry adds that, in addition to the purification tablets, kitchen kits are prepared for the evacuated people.

The Argentine embassy in Cuba made the offer, which the Cuban government accepted, and reported that "the human capacity to respond to the disaster is covered by the Cuban Civil Defense's own devices."
