Cuba participates in the Ibero-American Physics Olympiad 2022

With the participation of four Cuban pre-university students and their two coaches, as well as representatives from 11 countries, the twenty-seventh edition of the Ibero-American Physics Olympiad (OIbF) 2022 began this Saturday, October 1, to be held in virtual modality in Guatemala.

The Cuban delegation is made up of young talents Ramón Cherta Gonzalez, Alex David Rodríguez Rivero, Braily Luis García Díaz and Jack Rodríguez Valdivia, as well as Professors Adalberto Torné Quevedo and Ubelando Labrada Casi.

The Antilleans compete online from the headquarters, in Havana, of the Directorate of Educational Technology, attached to the Cuban Ministry of Education.

The conclave program, which will be in session until October 8, began this Saturday with the inauguration and presentation of the participants, as well as a rehearsal prior to the theoretical exam that will take place today. On Monday 2 will continue the fight with the experimental test.

From October 3 to 6, the review and qualification will be carried out, while Friday the 5th reserves conferences for the participants in the virtual academic appointment.

The closing and award ceremony will be next Sunday 8.

This contest aims to stimulate the study of physics, development of young talents, promotion of national events that contribute to supporting interest in this science in youth, as well as promoting the exchange of experiences and the deepening of friendship between countries that make up the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture.
