More than 2,000 films registered for the Havana Film Festival.

The call to register for the 43rd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana closed on August 30, 2022. Registrations, which remained open since March 23 of this year, reached more than 2,000 in terms of films.

The event will take place in Havana, from December 1 to 11, 2022. Until the closing of the call, 2,000 films, more than 300 scripts and more than one hundred posters were registered.

Registration for projects that are still in post-production and that wish to participate in the Industry Section will remain open until September 10.

For the 43rd edition, the Havana Film Festival exceptionally accepted works produced in three years: 2020, 2021 and 2022, due to the global situation with COVID 19, which produced changes in the event beyond the will of the filmmakers. organizers.

The official selection will be made public in the days prior to the start of the film event.

This year the event's Board of Directors includes a new award: the Diversity Award for the best Latin American queer-themed work, which will be evaluated by an independent jury appointed by the Festival. Likewise, the Fiction Feature Film, First Feature Film, Documentary Feature Film, Short Film, Animation, Unpublished Script, Poster and Postproduction Contests are held.

The Festival aims to recognize and disseminate cinematographic works that contribute, based on their significance and artistic values, to the enrichment and reaffirmation of Latin American and Caribbean cultural identity. Its program also includes a wide and representative sample of contemporary cinema from the rest of the world, Industry activities, as well as meetings and seminars on various topics of cultural and, especially, cinematographic interest.
