Díaz-Canel: The first greeting of the day that is for you, for those who make and listen to the radio.
In times as difficult as the ones we are experiencing, and that we can only overcome with everyone's understanding and cooperation, communication is fundamental, and it needs a lot from the women and men of Cuban Radio, said the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulating the Cuban radio broadcasters on the centenary of this communication medium.
The Cuban president affirmed in his message that he had woken up in a chain with the radio signal, on a day like today that marks one hundred years of its foundation.
First of all, he wanted to send greetings, congratulations to the radio broadcasters from all over Cuba, to those who make radio in Cuba and also to the dear listeners from all over the country.
Díaz-Canel confessed to having a close relationship with the radio. Saying that he had been passionate about it since he was a child, "when he was a pioneer he worked in a children's program called Compañeritos, which gave him an important lesson for life", and he considered that the radio has been a formidable instrument in his work since he belonged to the Union of Young Communists, that's what happened when I was in the Party from the province and now also from the central government.
Likewise, he recalled the challenging moments during the passage of cyclones and all the role that radio plays in these circumstances.
The radio has become the ideal means of informing, even now when the internet exists and it is possible to receive the television signal through a cell phone, the radio continues to be the one with the greatest reach and least cost for everyone and people are always well aware of Radio.
He also recognized in his words how people have an identification with their local radio, with their municipal radio, with their provincial radio, and how there are programs that are paradigmatic like this one from Hace Radio, he highlighted.
He also referred to the scope of news programs such as the Patria program in Villa Clara. Without a doubt, he limited himself, they are radio spaces with which people identify, and they take it as part of their daily lives.
Díaz-Canel took advantage of the occasion to recognize those who were precursors, founders of radio in Cuba. To Luis Casas Romero who was a virtuoso to whom we also owe that anthem of love and patriotism that is the Mambí, also to Manolín Álvarez, who very early on, in the 1920s, already did his first radio broadcasting jobs in Caibarién.
