Raúl and Díaz-Canel pay honor guard to those who died in the fire

Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Revolution, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, rendered this Friday, August 19, the last honor guard at the barracks firefighter Enrique Estrada, from the city of Matanzas, in tribute to those who died in the fire that occurred at the super tanker base in that city.

From 10 a.m. this Friday, funeral services are held for those who lost their lives in the incident, in which the people of Matanzas, representing all of Cuba, expressed their feelings of pain and solidarity.

There, the urns with the remains of 14 of those who fell in the disaster, are accompanied by floral offerings from the leader of the Revolution, Raúl Castro; President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and the people of Cuba.

Once the guard of honor was concluded, the funeral procession was transferred to the Pantheon of the Fallen for the Defense, in the City Cemetery, where the family burial ceremony took place.

From this Thursday at 6:00 a.m. and until 12:00 p.m. on August 19, Cuba is in official mourning, decreed by President Díaz-Canel.
