The final version of the Family Code is published in the Official Gazette.

The final version of the Family Code approved by the deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power -and which will be submitted to a popular referendum on September 25-, is already published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba No. 87 , of August 17, 2022, reported the Ministry of Justice (Minjus) on its website.

At the closing of this historic session of Parliament, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, highlighted that this regulation develops “something extraordinarily novel: affection as a legal value. That is why it has been called the Code of affections, which is not a motto, it is an essence».

This moment is reached, “after a permanent search for consensus, and its objective is to consolidate the guarantee of all rights for all people, as a reflection of the mandate of the 2019 Constitution, of the internal coherence of the Code itself with the rest of the nation's legal system, and with the international commitments that Cuba, on behalf of its people, has assumed," highlights the Minjus in the published note.

With the publication of this latest version of the Family Code –which has nine by how many, 474 articles, five transitory provisions and 45 final provisions–, our people will be able to assess the importance and scope of this legal norm, which is the result of a broad and genuine democratic exercise of popular consultation.

It is an inclusive, protective and reflective Code of current Cuban society, which offers alternatives and opportunities and options.

Participating in the referendum and voting for its approval on September 25 is the concretion of Marti's maxim: "With everyone and for the good of all."
