President of the International Federation of Gymnastics visited the National School of that sport in Havana.

Morinari Watanabe, president of the International Gymnastics Federation, visited the National Gymnastics School in Havana on Wednesday.

There he was received by Roberto León Richards, head of the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC) and the federation of this sport in Cuba, accompanied by Osvaldo Vento Montiller, president of Inder.

The Japanese federation Watanabe toured the facility, especially its training gyms, and confirmed the institution's support for him to obtain new equipment and to solve the problem of the courts.

He expressed the will of the International Federation to support Cuba in the development of its young generations, with the purpose of obtaining laudable results in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle.

Watanabe spoke with former Havana gymnast Erick López, a stellar Cuban athlete who won 18 gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal at the Pan American Games, and has been working for a year mainly on the development of the artistic modality.

The visit to the school included a more formal and direct exchange with coaches and directors of the national commission of this sport.

On Tuesday, Watanabe visited the Cuban Sports Research Center where he was received by the director of the institution, Doctor Pavel Pino. There he received a comprehensive explanation about the work they carry out in order to improve the performance of Cuban athletes.
