The Ministry of Labor of Cuba establishes labor provisions to contribute to energy saving.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security clarifies that taking into account the energy situation that the country is going through, it demands the adoption of measures in the state sector of the economy, which contribute to reducing electricity consumption, among them the reduction to a minimum essential for workers in the workplace.

In a ministerial order issued by the head of the organization, Marta Elena Feitó Cabrera, clarifies that it is up to each head of the entity to determine the labor and salary measures to be applied in correspondence with the characteristics of the activity, which contribute to the achievement of this objective to the once they protect the income of workers and find legal support in Law 116, Labor Code, its Regulations and Resolution 71/202.

The labor provisions that can be applied homogeneously, and combined are:

Remote work and telecommuting

Field work

Holidays

.Work schedule adjustments

Job relocation

Work interruption. In this case, it should be applied as a last option when none of the previous alternatives can be applied, taking into account that workers who cannot be relocated are entitled to a salary guarantee equivalent to one hundred percent of their basic daily salary for the period of one month, computed consecutively or not, within the year.

The Minister of Labor and Security, Marta Elena Feitó Cabrera, draws attention to the fact that the approval of reduced working hours with full salary payment is not the power of the Heads of the Organisms of the Central State Administration (OACE), nor of the Organizations Superiors of Business Management (OSDE), so that in the event that it is determined to work in shorter working hours than those established, the salary will be paid in correspondence of the actual time worked and not 100%, hence the need to concentrate on the application of the previously announced measures.
