University of Havana and ONAT sign collaboration agreement

A collaboration agreement for the exchange of research, professional practices, training and introduction of scientific results was signed by Miriam Nicado García, rector of the University of Havana (UH), and Mary Blanca Ortega, head of the National Office of Tax Administration (ONAT).

The Minister of Finance and Prices, Meisi Bolaños Weiss, on her Twitter account, described this action as an important line of work in the implementation of the science and innovation management system at ONAT. She valued that the agreement will contribute to the improvement of tax collection and control systems and to guarantee contributions to the budget.

A report by the Cuban News Agency specifies that the cooperation between the UH and the ONAT aims to strengthen the role of universities and the scientific and technological community in terms of sustainable and inclusive economic development.

It also highlights that although the country has scientific and technological capacities that cannot be underestimated, knowledge is still far from becoming the transforming social force that drives compliance with the National Plan for Economic and Social Development until 2030, as recently recognized by the president of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel.
