This historic town still has the air of old Cuban cities. Its Historic Center has been declared a National Monument and is worth a visit. In it you can perceive the different styles of its buildings, as well as admire several interesting monuments.

Recently, a solemn session of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power was held in Guanabacoa, where the anniversary of the municipality was also celebrated, chaired, according to the Tribuna de La Habana newspaper, by the members of the Political Bureau Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of the Popular power; Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the Cuban Workers Central (CTC); the member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in the capital, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar; the Governor of Havana, Reinaldo García Zapata; and Transportation Minister Eduardo Dávila.

In this territory, works such as the rescue of the Parque Martí park, nucleus of the Urban Historic Center, have become the dynamic site of the social life of the municipality, which exhibits a completely restored image.

Guanabacoa has a budget of 262,011,00.00 pesos for maintenance and repairs, as well as 257,450,000 for investments, and in 2022 it is proposed to execute 32 works in the urban historic center (11 already finished), for which there is a budget of 8,018,700.00 pesos from the one percent account, with the support of the Government of Havana and the collaboration of the Office of the City Historian.

The Portal del Ciudadano de La Habana wants to congratulate those who became adoptive children of the municipality, as a symbol of thanks and gratitude for their contribution to the development of the territory, Marta Oramas Rivero, First Deputy Minister of Transportation, for the sustained work in support of the works carried out in this municipality, the cardiologist and internationalist, Doctor Carlos García Heredia, and the president of Muhia Productions, Inés de la Caridad Vega Muñoz.

The member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in Havana, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, expressed satisfaction and confidence in the work carried out by the authorities of the Party and the Government of Guanabacoa in promoting the works being carried out, and highlighted the security that they will know how to meet and face each challenge represented in the purposes of municipal development, highlighted Tribuna de La Habana.
