
Granted Outstanding status to the National Union of Jurists of Havana
The National Union of Jurists of Cuba in Havana met this Saturday at the Sierra Maestra building, in the municipality of Playa, where it received the status of Outstanding.
The National Union of Jurists of Cuba (UNJC) reached its 45th anniversary on June 8, during which time its members have been worthy defenders of socialist legality. To commemorate such an important event, this Saturday, a group of jurists from the capital gathered at the Sierra Maestra building, in the municipality of Playa.
During the meeting, the jurists gathered there paid a minute of silence for those who died in the tragic accident that occurred at the Saratoga hotel.
Tribuna de La Habana reports that in the activity, Osmín Álvarez Bencomo, president of the Provincial Board of Directors of the Union of Jurists in Havana, who was recently elected a member of the National Board of Directors, expressed his appreciation for the hard work carried out by jurists, students and professors of the capital in the consultation process of the Family Code, in the elaboration of four procedural laws presented by the Supreme Court to the National Assembly of People's Power, as well as other legislative projects and the active participation of the jurists of Havana in the fight in social networks, volunteer work, blood donations and pointed out the new constitution of the Republic as a great strength.
Álvarez Bencomo concluded with a call to jurists to continue improving themselves daily.
The anthem of the jurists was presented at the ceremony, and recognitions were given to scientific work carried out by members of the UNJC in the capital.
Similarly, the Provincial Awards were given to: the Young Jurist, who was received by Amanda Laura Prieto; the Julio Fernández Bulté Provincial Law Prize went to the Doctor of Science Marta Milagro Moreno Cruz; that of the Work of Life to Carlos Manuel Díaz Terreiro, while that of the most outstanding jurist at the provincial level was held by Yojaniel Sierra Infante.
A special moment was the delivery, by Félix Antonio Jardines Leiva, vice president of the UNJC, of the status of outstanding to the province of Havana.
The occasion was propitious to deliver the card to new members of the UNJC in the capital, and to recognize a group of jurists who have worked in the sector in an outstanding way for 20 and 25 years.
Firefighters were also recognized for their hard work during the events at the Hotel Saratoga.
In the conclusions of the meeting, Alain Bocourt, a member of the Party's Provincial Bureau in Havana, recognized the hard work carried out by the country's jurists in the various scenarios they have had to face, highlighting the simplicity and humility of these men and women, as well as as his delivery in how much task his presence has been required.
