Recovery actions continue in the capital

With the presence of Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party, and Reinaldo García Zapata, Governor of the city, at the meeting on Tuesday, June 7, the Temporary Work Group (GTT) of Havana followed up , among other issues, to the evaluation of the recovery tasks that are undertaken after the intense rains that affected the capital, reports Tribuna La Habana.

The provincial head of the Civil Defense, Lieutenant Colonel Luis Hernández, presented an excellent report on the actions carried out, among them, the verification of all damages, definition of the construction forces that ensure the execution of the works, rubbish and cleaning in all the municipalities, the restoration of all services, as well as a detailed survey of the means that were damaged to the population, the definition of the strategy to be followed to definitively solve the causes that originated the damages in the most critical places and the building shoring.

Among the damage to homes, there were 252 collapses, 22 total, 46 partial, 37 roofs totally affected and 135 partially affected. Until now, a total of 175 people had been evacuated and 247 self-evacuated.

Among the municipalities with the highest number of evacuees are: Old Havana (55), Centro Habana (51), Diez de Octubre (40) and Guanabacoa (11); of the self-evacuated Diez de Octubre reports the highest figure with 101 people, Centro Habana with 52, Arroyo Naranjo 36, Regla 30 and Plaza de la Revolución 28.

It was learned that the bridge located in La Polar has already been dismantled and work is being done on a new concrete project; meanwhile, the dismantling and transfer to the factory of the bridge in the neighborhood of La Escalera, for its reconstruction, is carried out.

Regarding the recovery of the hydrographic basins, after the rains, Vento and Ariguanabo increased their accumulations, for which a favorable situation is maintained. In addition, the drainage work on the Pontón will restart this week.

The Lieutenant Colonel explained that in the province work continues to solve the greatest number of damages in the shortest possible time, local solutions are sought in each of the municipalities to speed up the situation of those affected in the home, especially those who cannot return to their homes and those who are in areas of high danger of flooding.

Regarding the supply of food to the capital, Eduardo Amador, main assistant of the Provincial Government's Distribution area, announced that a total of 336 tons (Tn) of food was received from the day's plan, of which, 138 Tn destined for to state-managed agricultural markets, for leased markets 172 Tn and for social consumption 16 Tn.

On the other hand, according to the report presented by the Provincial Public Health Directorate, control of COVID-19 is maintained in the city.

At the close of yesterday, of the 1,785 studies carried out, four autochthonous positive cases were reported, contacts of previously confirmed cases. The municipalities of Diez de Octubre, La Lisa, Boyeros and Arroyo Naranjo, all with a confirmed case. The incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants decreases in the last 15 days by 42.1%. 232 patients remain hospitalized, of them, 174 at home and 58 in hospitals. No active events, or serious and critical cases are reported.
