Cuban President and Prime Minister highlight importance of Cuba 2.0 Food Fair

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero visited the Pabexpo fairgrounds on Thursday and learned details about the Cuba 2.0 Food Fair from exhibitors.

Prensa Latina reports that there they learned about the strategic agreements with foreign companies - more than 70, from 15 countries that participated - that promote the development of the food industry based on the participation of new actors in the management model of the Cuban economy.

Food production, import substitution and production linkages focused the interest of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and the member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, during his visit to the Cuba 2.0 Food Fair.

Accompanied by the head of the Food Industry, Manuel Sobrino Martínez, they spoke with exhibitors whose productions can boost the sector.

Prensa Latina (PL) reports that Marrero Cruz, in statements to the Information System of Cuban Television, highlighted the importance of this third edition of the Fair, in which raw materials, equipment and other business options were exchanged, which may affect in the expansion of supply and the consequent decrease in inflation.

A total of 160 Cuban companies, representing the state and private sectors, participated in the meeting.

According to this medium, after the good results of the Cuba 2.0 Food Fair, Fira Barcelona, ​​one of the organizing entities, is preparing this Friday to continue promoting the island's market to food producing companies.

He details that the director of International Business of the Spanish entity, Ricard Zapatero, highlighted the satisfaction shown by the exhibitors at the meeting that ended the day before at Pabexpo.

“When we organize fairs, we always ask the participants how it went and in this case it was general satisfaction, both with Cuban and international companies, people had the opportunity to talk, look for business, many visitors came and there was a great atmosphere. , therefore the valuation is superpositive”, he said.

Zapatero specified that from now on the work is focused on working for the next edition and so that international companies know the Caribbean nation, its market and can carry out activities with Cuban companies and progress one hundred percent in development opportunities.

A cooperation agreement was signed this Thursday between Alimpex, an importer and exporter at the service of the Food Industry, and the Italian firm Lotus, dedicated to the manufacture of gastronomic equipment, concludes PL.
