The capital notifies 5 of the 44 new positives for Covid-19 in Cuba

The official part of the Ministry of Public Health reports that at the close of yesterday, May 24, 44 new positive cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, for a total of one million 105 thousand 091.

One thousand 379 remain hospitalized; 1,135 suspects, and 31 under surveillance.

To date, 8 thousand 529 deaths have been reported (none of the day) and 71 medical discharges were given (of the day), accumulating one million 96 thousand 289 (99.2%) recovered patients. 214 active cases were confirmed, of which 212 with stable clinical evolution.

In Havana, 5 cases were identified, 4 were autochthonous and one was imported. Cases were reported in four of the 15 capital municipalities, with the following distribution:

• Boyeros – 1

• Hill – 1

• Eastern Havana – 1

• Mariano – 1

For COVID-19, 4,623 samples were studied, resulting in 44 positive samples. The country accumulates 13 million 836 thousand 871 samples carried out and one million 105 thousand 091 positives.

Of those confirmed, 36 were contacts of confirmed cases, 1 with a source of infection abroad, and 7 with an unspecified source.

Of the feminine sex 23, and of the masculine 21. In the intensive therapies, 2 patients reported to be in serious condition remain.

6.8% (3) of the 44 positives were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 146,937, which represents 13.3%.

The 44 diagnosed belong to the age groups: under 20 years old, 21; from 20 to 39, 3; from 40 to 59 years old 6, and from 60 and over, 14 cases.

Until this May 24, Cuba reports a case fatality rate of 0.77% of Covid-19 per million inhabitants, lower than the 1.19% of the world, and 1.75% of the Americas.
