8 of the 44 new positives for Covid-19 in Cuba are reported in the capital

The official part of the Ministry of Public Health reports that at the close of yesterday, May 21, 44 new positive cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, for a total of one million 104 thousand 979 8% positivity.

1,506 remain hospitalized; 1,207 suspects, and 25 under surveillance.

To date, 8 thousand 529 deaths have been reported (none of the day) and 49 medical discharges were given (of the day), accumulating one million 96 thousand 117 (99.2%) recovered patients. 274 active cases were confirmed, of which 271 with stable clinical evolution.

In Havana, 5 cases were identified, 4 autochthonous and one imported. Cases were reported in only five of the 15 capital municipalities, with the following distribution:

• Orange Creek – 1

• Hill – 1

• Eastern Havana – 3

• Revolution Square – 1

• San Miguel del Padrón – 1

For COVID-19, 4,674 samples were studied, resulting in 44 positive samples. The country accumulates 13 million 824 thousand 282 samples carried out and one million 104 thousand 979 (8%) positive.

Of those confirmed, 38 were contacts of confirmed cases, 1 with a source of infection abroad, and 5 with an unspecified source.

Of the feminine sex 27, and of the masculine 17. In the intensive therapies there are 3 patients, of them 2 critical and 1 serious.

9.1% (4) of the 44 positives were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 146,928, which represents 13.3%.

Of the 44 diagnosed, they belong to the age groups: under 20 years of age, 23; from 20 to 39, 8; from 40 to 59 years old 7, and from 60 and over, 7 cases.

Until this May 21, Cuba reports a case fatality rate of 0.77% of Covid-19 per million inhabitants, lower than the 1.2% of the world, and 1.75% of the Americas.
