From the capital 5 of the 61 new positives to Covid-19 in Cuba

The official part of the Ministry of Public Health reports that at the close of yesterday, May 18, 61 new positive cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, for a total of one million 104 thousand 830.

1,804 remain hospitalized; 1,422 suspects, and 35 under surveillance.

To date, 8 thousand 529 deaths have been reported (none of the day) and 110 medical discharges were given (of the day), accumulating one million 95 thousand 895 (99.2%) recovered patients. 347 active cases were confirmed, of which 344 with stable clinical evolution.

In Havana, 5 cases were identified, all autochthonous. Cases were reported in only four of the 15 capital municipalities, with the following distribution:

• Cattlemen – 1

• October Tenth – 1

• Eastern Havana – 1

• Lisa – 2

For COVID-19, 5,323 samples were studied, resulting in 61 positive samples. The country accumulates 13 million 809 thousand 249 samples carried out and one million 104 thousand 830 (8%) positive.

Of those confirmed, 55 were contacts of confirmed cases, 2 with a source of infection abroad, and 4 with an unspecified source.

Of the feminine sex 39, and of the masculine 22. In the intensive therapies there are 3 patients, of them 1 critical and 2 serious.

13.1% (8) of the 61 positives were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 146,919, which represents 13.3%.

Of the 61 diagnosed, they belong to the age groups: under 20 years of age, 19; from 20 to 39, 11; from 40 to 59 years old, 17, and from 60

and over, 14 cases.

Until this May 18, Cuba reports a case fatality rate of 0.77% of Covid-19 per million inhabitants, lower than the 1.2% of the world, and 1.76% of the Americas.
