1962.   The National Folkloric Ensemble is founded in Havana.

Its first show took place in 1963 at the Julio Antonio Mella Theater in Havana.

This group has carried out the task of gathering the dance and musical manifestations of national character based on scientific investigations carried out all over the country.

The group has exhibited in its presentations a style of theatrical folk art of great scenic and artistic effectiveness. It has made multiple international tours and has performed in the most prestigious and diverse stages of the world.

Another important sphere within the work of the National Folkloric Ensemble is its pedagogical activity developed through FOLKCUBA, an international folklore workshop organized by the company and in which many people interested in learning Cuban dances and music have enrolled.

1992.  The Ibero-American Center for the Evaluation and Treatment of the Elderly is inaugurated by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, in the Borges Pavilion of the Calixto Garcia Hospital in Havana.

The CITED, currently called: Research Center on: "Longevity, Aging and Health", is the National Reference Center for the development of Gerontology and Geriatrics, as well as for research on the topics of longevity, aging and health in the elderly. It also assumes a leading role in the training and preparation of human resources dedicated to the care of the elderly.
